FilmAid International to Host Screenings at Los Angeles Film Festival
FilmAid International is proud to participate in the Los Angeles Film Festival (LAFF), a ten day showcase of independent films which runs from June 16 to June 26. Don Cheadle (Hotel Rwanda) will serve as one of this year's Honorary Festival Chairs.
On June 22 FilmAid will host ToonTime - a world premiere collection of cartoons screening at 8:30 pm at the John Anson Ford Amphitheater. The soundtrack will be mixed live by acclaimed hip hop artist THE RZA best known for founding the Wu Tang Clan and his work featured in Unleashed, Blade, Trinity, and Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2. FilmAid's Executive Director, Elizabeth Silkes will attend the event, where she will speak about FilmAid's work before introducing the evening's program.
The LAFF is a forum that allows independent filmmakers to share their work with the public. This forum is produced by Film Independent, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting independent filmmakers and helping to increase diversity in the film industry. FilmAid International welcomes the collaboration with LAFF and hopes to incorporate some of the festival content into our programs in Kenya, the Kakuma Refugee Camp, and the Kibondo Refugee Camps in Tanzania.
