Keefe started his career as a documentary filmmaker producing character-driven films about economic human rights. His two feature-length documentaries premiered on SundanceTV. iThemba|Hope (2005) is a film about a young artist and activists fighting to gain access to HIV/AIDS treatment for all South Africans. The film was shown in 2006 in Kakuma Refugee Camp as part of FilmAid Kenya’s Mobile Cinema screening. August in the Empire State (2006) is a film about human rights and economic opportunity in an increasingly polarized United States. In addition to filmmaking, Keefe has worked as a digital media professional and consultant including stints directing the digital media department at SundanceTV and managing video production and online content strategy at UNICEF. Keefe is a firm believer that the power of personal stories is not just to spark debate, but to fuel and sustain positive social change.
